As part of our 50 things to do this summer, my nephew and I made this ice cream treat. It is supposed to be Yoda but maybe it looks like a strange monster. Last year we tried to make Yoda ice cream and it failed since we tried to use ice cream as the ears. We used homemade tortilla chips this year which were much easier.
Ice Cream: Perry’s Mint-Ting-A-LingÂ
Head: We used an ice cream scoop to make small scoops on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Eyes: Wilton Candy Eyes
Ears: We cut flour tortilla chips into ear shapes, sprayed a cookie sheet and tortilla ears with cooking spray and baked in 375 oven until done (less than 10 minutes for our shapes). Then we took white candy melts, melted them in the microwave (about a minute) added green food coloring, then spread the now green and melted candy melts onto the cooled tortilla chip ears.
Assembly: It is easier to attach the eyes and stick in the ears if the ice cream is a little soft. After we assembled the Yoda’s we put them back in the freezer until ready to serve.
Craft Fail!
This is a version we tried with sanding sugar tortilla chip ears (we added green sanding sugar to the cooking sprayed tortilla pieces before baking). I consider it a fail. Also someones finger got into the ice cream but maybe it looks like a mouth.
Such a cute Yoda! How clever!!!
Thank you!
they are cute!
Thanks!
