Today I have four chess themed lunches that I made for my 14 year old nephew. The chess cookie cutters are from here. I have the smallest sized set.
My nephew likes salsa rice and black beans and it was perfect for a chess board.
Container: EasyLunchBoxes
Left Side: Hot cooked Nishiki rice mixed with a little salsa and pressed in a square cookie cutter, black beans mixed with a little salsa
Top Right: Pistachio nuts
Bottom Right: Mini sour cherry tart with chess piece cut from pie crust
This pizza chess lunch was previously published here.
I made this on a day that I made other focaccia lunches. My nephew is always happy to have a bread and cheese lunch.
Container: EasyLunchBoxes
Left Side: Focaccia bread with squares of paprika added before baking. You could also use cinnamon (cookie cutter as stencil), Cheddar cheese stick
Top Right: Raspberries and pineapple
Bottom Right: Chess pieces – cucumber (cookie cutters), carrots
My nephew has a microwave at school so this lunch was made with that in mind. The squares of mozzarella will melt when heated and the side dishes are in silicone cups for easy removal before heating.
Container: EasyLunchBoxes
Top Left: Chess pieces – apple cut with these cookie cutters, apples were dipped in lemon juice and water to prevent browning
Bottom Left: Sugar snap peas
Right Side: Homemade lasagna baked without cheese on top, added squares of mozzarella cheese after baking
Great chess theme lunches! I bet he loved them!
Thanks!
