What is a fleur-de-lis? Why did I make a fleur-de-lis themed lunch?
What: A fleur-de-lis is an artistic form of the lily or iris flowers. In French, fleur means flower, and lis means lily. It has been used for decoration and as a symbol with many different meanings.
Why: The fleur-de-lis became personal to me when we bought our house many years ago. The previous owners painted the symbol as decoration on our side porch. When I browsed a large cookie cutter collection at a store and found a fleur-de-lis shape, I had to get it and the idea for this lunch was born.

That would go over big in Louisville and much of KY, where they identify with France…(“Louis” in the name is for King Louis the Sixteenth.) Also with Boy Scouts, as it is a symbol of theirs as well.
I did not know these facts. Very interesting! Thank you so much!
