This meal was for me. COVID-19 and Social Distancing has significantly impacted my life. Seeking out whimsy and cute things is part of who I am. When I take photos, I focus on the beautiful. Normally my food is cute, that is my preference. This is not my usual type of theme but maybe the gingerbread man shaped rice makes it comical. Living during a time of a global pandemic makes the formerly odd seem normal. At first it was unusual to see people walk across the street to avoid others. Then it was strange to see people wearing masks in public. Now my rice man is wearing a mask.
I have sewn several masks for myself and friends. I am thankful for sewing skills learned as a child and for a stocked craft room. I want to make a few more for myself to coordinate with various clothing colors / patterns. I see a lot of people wearing masks when they walk in my town. This was not true a month ago. I currently am able to keep more than 6 feet away from people so I don’t usually wear a mask. I have them for times when I can’t social distance.
