I am not Jewish but I have an appreciation and interest in world cultures and religions. I made these Hanukkah lunches last year. This year I wanted to do something different so I looked at my Hanukkah cookie cutters for inspiration. It was not immediately apparent to me why there was a shield cookie cutter in my cookie cutter set. After researching it for awhile I found this activity and explanation. Hanukkah is the celebration of the Maccabees winning battles. They returned to Jerusalem and brought the Temple back to its Jewish roots of worship. My shield and Star of David represent this.
My 10 year old nephew ate this quesadilla lunch for lunch at home.
