Flash Card Stitching Contest Entry

Sheep Flash Card Book

This is my entry for the &Stitches Back to School Stitching Competition. My flash card is for the Japanese character ひ (Hi). The Japanese word ひつじ (Hitsuji) means sheep. Since I am interested in Japanese language and culture and love sheep and lambs, it was a natural choice for my flash card. This was stitched on a Flour Sack Towel and the finished size is 3 x 5 inches. It is my own design.

Stitches used in this flash card:

  • Backstitch
  • Chain stitch
  • French knot – I had a ton of fun crafting french knots for this project. I varied the size and tension to make the sheep look fluffy and not uniform.
