I made this New York State themed lunch for my 8 year old nephew. This is my second attempt. Last year I tried one but did not like it enough to post here. The beaver and Long Island were the problem last year. In this bento I tried a different type of beaver and omitted Long Island (which happens to be my place of birth) from our state shape.
Container: EasyLunchBoxes
Status of Liberty: Green pepper
New York State Shape: Cheese quesadilla
Beaver: Tortilla broiled with cooking spray and paprika (our state animal)
Apples: Our state fruit
Eastern Bluebirds: Tortillas broiled with cooking spray and sanding sugar (state bird), Wine Red Garnet (state gem) is under the bluebirds
Not Pictured: Greek yogurt (important state product) dip with grated apple and maple syrup (product from the Sugar Maple – our state tree)

Love the Statue of Liberty. I love how the theme is reflected in all the side dishes too. 🙂
Thank you Winnie!
Great State themed bento. Love all your details and explanation of why they are there. Our nephew said he had a great field trip with you last week too.
Thank you! Yes, I had a great time with him too!
Wow that Statue of Liberty is awesome. States would be a great bento them, tasty way to learn state facts.
Thank you Eileen. I gave my nephew a list of state symbols and he picked which ones to include in the lunch.
