Hilmar Cheese Visitor Center

While on the CLAAS tour, our bus stopped at the Hilmar Cheese Visitor Center. Hilmar Cheese is the largest cheese processing plant in the United States. First our bus took a tour of the processing facilities. We then ate a buffet breakfast and had time to view the exhibits and try cheese.

On the second floor of the visitor center there were many interactive exhibits geared toward educating kids and adults about cows and dairy farming.

In the exhibit pictured below, kids can try on a coat of a dairy farmer, veterinarian, or milk processing technician. Then kids can look at themselves in a mirror.

Interactive exhibit about dairy careers.

    Hi Kathy-
I don’t think I have heard of Hilmar cheese – is it available in NY? Were you impressed with the taste? Great to see you last night! ML

Hilmar does not market cheese under their own brand except in the visitor center. They bulk sale their cheese for packaging under various labels. We tasted many delicious cheeses at Hilmar. It was great to see you too!
